Our latest project is located on the well-known Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset, in the Salamanca district, one of Madrid's most desirable areas. Surrounded by a number of elegant early twentieth century apartment buildings, this flat is just two roads up from the Plaza de Marques de Salamanca after whom the district is named.

Entering through large double doors, you pass through the spacious marble-tiled entrance hall  leading to the stairs and the elevator encased in black wrought-iron surround. A doorman is on hand daily.

As with the other projects, this flat had been untouched for decades, and needed a complete renovation to bring it up to to date, although as always  we worked hard to retain as many original features (such as the wooden front windows and interior doors)  as possible.

The flat, located on the first floor,  has two large windows leading onto small balconies overlooking  Ortega Y Gasset, and a further ten interior windows overlooking two central courtyards, or patios. Along the corridor leading to the front of the property the windows are large  gallery windows reaching almost to the ceiling.  

The property originally had three small bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen towards the rear and a cramped living room.  The new plans created a large master bedroom at the back of the flat, with a his-and-hers wardrobes leading onto the en-suite bathroom; a second smaller bedroom or TV room/ home office with en suite bathroom / guest bathroom, a stylish white and wooden kitchen with  Bosch appliances, Silestone wrapped breakfast bar with compact wine fridge underneath, and finally the very spacious living and dining area (previously two smaller rooms) with the original wooden windows restored and double glazed opening onto their two balconies.

In this flat I have chosen a simple yet chic colour palate of neutrals , both in the finishes - honey coloured natural oak floor, white Silestone for the wrapped peninsula in the kitchen and for the master bathroom, large cream tiles in the kitchen and both bathrooms-  to the decor and furnishings; caramel coloured walls in the master suite, white walls and white wooden shutters, oversized  sofa of palest cream, oatmeal coloured ottoman coffee table,  offset with  tones of darkest blue in the living area and the occasional  pop of brighter colours.  Accessories and original art for this property have been sourced from England, Mexico - and of course from here in Spain.
